Why Hire A Landscape Designer?

Like architects and interior designers, professional landscape designers take many things into account - needs, wants, dreams, budget, natural environment, residential architecture - and work them all into a cohesive plan. They are trained in landscape design and horticulture, so they bring sound garden design principles and a comprehensive knowledge of plants to the table. They coordinate with contractors, vendors, local governments and others to bring two-dimensional plans to reality. Professional landscape designers can save you time, money, and the headache of a landscape project gone wrong.

Services

Every person's needs are different, so I provide a range of residential and commercial services. Below is an overview of residential services. Commercial design quotes are available upon request. If you don't see what you are looking for, please don't hesitate to contact me. Let's talk about your needs and how I can help you.

Garden Coaching

If you are looking for help with your existing garden or need guidance on how to implement your own design ideas, garden coaching is a good fit. Take advantage of my design expertise and plant knowledge while we walk around your property or at a nursery of your choice. Garden coaching is $25.00 per hour.

Residential Design Collaboration

A design collaboration is likely the answer if you are looking for some conceptual help without an in-depth, scaled landscape plan. I'll meet you at your property where we will discuss questions like these:

  • What is working and what is not working? Is something missing?

  • How would you like to use your space? Entertain, relax, garden, etc?

  • What would you like your new space to feel like?

  • What new elements in the design would reflect your personality?

We will work together, with the help of diagrams and sketches, to arrive at one or more viable solutions for your landscape challenges. Design collaborations are $200.00 for two hours.

Residential Landscape Master Plans & Planting Plans

Here is where you will receive the full benefit of my training and expertise. Master plans are ideal for DIYers and for requesting competitive bids. Your final design will include:

  • One full-color copy of a scaled master plan (plan view) for your property

  • One digital file (scanned jpeg image of the plan)

Optional services (additional fees apply):

  • Elevations and/or perspective drawings to further convey the design

  • A plant list that includes photos and descriptions

Once a contract is developed and signed, I will take measurements of your property and perform an extensive site analysis. We will work through a conceptual design process similar to what is outlined above (see Residential Design Collaboration), but more in-depth. Please go to the Design Process page for details. Design fees are $60 per hour. Master/planting plans are typically between $500-1,000.

Landscape Installation & Maintenance Coordinator

Once the design phase is complete, I am ready to assist you during installation. I can help you choose contractors and obtain bids, coordinate with the city as needed, and be on site during installation to make sure the design we built together on paper comes to fruition. After the installation phase is complete, I can help you select a suitable maintenance company and will make periodic visits to ensure your landscape is being properly maintained. All contracts are obtained by you. Coordination fees are 10% of the total contracted installation work.
